Hi, my name is Beth G. Valdez and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years experience working with adolescents, families, and adults in the mental health field. My approach to therapy is holistic, working with both the body and the mind to improve mental health and help clients engage in life fully. My theoretical approach is integrative drawing on DBT, ACT, CBT, EFt, and many more approaches to find the strategies that work best for the client. I am also certified in EMDR to help clients who have experienced traumatic experiences in their lives.
My approach
My theoretical approach is integrative drawing on DBT, ACT, CBT, EFt, and many more approaches to find the strategies that work best for the client. I am also certified in EMDR to help clients who have experienced traumatic experiences in their lives often integrating attachment-focused EMDR practices to help with complex trauma.
My focus
I have over twenty years experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples experiencing challenges associated with depression, anxiety, ADHD and relationship issues.
My communication style
My communication style is very laid back, but direct when needed. Working together is very much a partnership at times, teamwork when warranted, and a mostly cooperative guided journey for clients looking to improve coping skills, reduce negative thoughts and feelings, or live the human experience fully.
My journey to mental healthcare
For over twenty years I have worked in schools and in mental health settings helping students, families, and adults navigate the inevitable bumps we encounter during our journey. It is an honor for me to hear their stories and to work alongside them as they achieve their mental health goals. As a mother, a competitive coach, and a wife, I have always relished the role of helping and caring for others.
My goals for you
Collaborative approach to setting achievable goals.
My first session with you
Clients can expect during the first session with me an opportunity to share their stories, identify some of the most important challenges to work on, and leave the session with a few new tools in their toolbox.
