It's okay to ask for help sometimes. Hello, I'm Monica, a licensed professional clinical counselor passionate about helping people heal and overcome life challenges. I like to meet people where they are at in life and learn about their unique stories, dreams, fears, and struggles so that together we can create or find new meaning in their accounts.
My approach
I practice from a solution and strengths-based approach using a variety of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to EMDR, CBT, DBT, PCIT, play therapy, and narrative. I firmly believe that education and empowerment play an essential role in healing.
My focus
Throughout my journey, I have worked with individuals of diverse populations dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem issues, grief, trauma/abuse, and eating disorders. I have also worked with children who struggle with attachment difficulties and behavior problems by supporting caregivers in managing behaviors and challenges.
My communication style
I aim to create a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel safe to share your story. My communication style is compassionate yet direct - I'll listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and offer honest insights to help you gain clarity and build on your strengths. I believe in empowering you with knowledge and tools to navigate life's challenges.
My journey to mental healthcare
I hold an MA in Counseling. My specialties include ADHD, adolescents/teens, adoption, anger management, anxiety, behavioral issues, child abuse or neglect, coping skills, cultural stress, depression, eating disorders, emotional disturbance, grief, impulsivity, life transitions, oppositional defiance, parenting, self-esteem, sexual abuse, stress, trauma and PTSD. I am willing to see individuals and minors aged 13-17. I can also provide therapy in Spanish.
My goals for you
Asking for help takes courage, and it would be an honor to walk alongside you in your healing journey, as I know this can be scary and overwhelming. I hope to hear from you.
