I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I am so excited to work with you. I know that starting therapy can be overwhelming. As you take your first steps, my goal is to start where you are at and guide you in discovering what you need from therapy.
My approach
My approach is client-centered. Therapy is about reaching your own goals so that you can feel more confident in your life. That may mean processing past traumas, learning to set boundaries, and guidance in learning how to cope with stress. We can figure it out together. Note: Upon request, I can also use Catholic approaches.
My focus
I have been in this field for 10+ years. This has allowed me to work with a variety of clients (young, old, and everything in between). Some minority populations I have worked with include women, immigrants, children of immigrants, adoptees, refugees, and Hispanics.
My communication style
First and foremost, I want my clients to feel heard and understood. As we progress, I want you to understand your mental health in a way that makes sense, and feel confident in using learned skills in your everyday life. Therapy sessions can include humor, tears, and everything in between.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started my career as a Social Worker 10+ years ago. I have worked in a variety of settings, including adoption agencies, refugee centers, foster care agencies, and outpatient mental health clinics. Ultimately, I found that mental health wellness impacted all of my clients in those settings. Fascinated by human behavior and mental health, I explore my role as a therapist and fell in love with the process.
My goals for you
I use a collaborative approach to setting goals with my clients. Ultimately, the goals have to be theirs, and I check in with them about the progress they are making and the factors that have arisen in their journey.
My first session with you
The first session can be so scary and nerve-wracking. My goal is to ease you into it. We don't have to go into your deepest, darkest secrets. While we gather information about what therapy may look like in the future and some history, it will also be a good opportunity to find out if we are a good fit for each other.
