Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Melanie!

My name is Melanie Lapeyrolerie and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles, California, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults ages 18-65+ and specialize in anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, alcohol, and substance abuse disorders, and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help my clients feel better and improve in their daily lives.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as these modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality, and allow us to work together making progress along the course of therapy to resolve issues and heal from emotional disturbances that impact relationships, work and daily functioning.

My focus

I have worked with patients with diverse cultural backgrounds including Latino, African American, Asian, LGBTQi+, various patients from underserved, working class, and upper socioeconomic backgrounds. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and addictions.

My communication style

My communication style is calm, accommodating, and supportive. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about the things that matter most to them and those things that they may feel uncomfortable discussing. I pride myself on being down-to-earth, authentic, and compassionate with the gift of listening without judgment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I decided to become a therapist because I always felt a duty to help others little did I know that duty would evolve into a career as a healer, helper, teacher, and therapist. I am genuinely interested in helping people heal from their afflictions. I was inspired by mother who was a Registered Nurse and watching her care for our neighbors, family members and in her work treating infants in the PICU. I believe that there is a special calling for my work in helping others that gives my life meaning and joy. I absolutely feel honored helping others to improve their lives, and being a witness when the light turns on in someone’s eyes.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us, and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we’ll work together to set goals and track your progress throughout the sessions.

My first session with you

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you’ve been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building a connection and how I can help you with why you are seeking therapy at this time. We will have a conversation and your concerns will be the focus. Each individual is different, and unique therefore getting to know you and what brings you to therapy is how we will spend our first session.
