Hi, everyone! Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Rebecca Gomez and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I provide individual therapy to adult clients who reside within the state of California. My focus is working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, and any life event or situation that they believe is negatively impacting their current level of functioning.
My approach
I provide a warm, safe, and non-judgmental environment where clients can relax and feel comfortable as they set out to discuss the most personal details of their lives. I allow clients to choose the areas they would like to focus on while in treatment. I utilize various therapeutic approaches, however, I tend to use a combination of psychodynamic, CBT, solution-focused, and mindfulness.
My focus
The clients that I work with are usually individuals who are having difficulty managing their level of anxiety and depression. I assist clients in identifying the underlying issues that contribute to their low self-esteem, negative thoughts, and self-sabotaging behaviors. We often become stuck and entangled in our negative patterns of behavior, therefore I guide clients through the difficulties of managing moods, improving communication skills, identifying appropriate coping skills, and adjusting to life-changing events by discovering the best solutions that work for their current situation.
My communication style
Take a deep breath...inhale and exhale. The environment I provide is safe, casual, and warm. My goal is to ensure clients feel comfortable, relaxed, and free to discuss any issue or topic during sessions. Clients who work with me, have the opportunity to cry, vent, and unpack the pressure and expectations of society. My approach is to encourage, empower, guide/assist, be supportive when needed, and mostly to challenge clients to grow and view their situation from a different perspective.
My goals for you
How will we identify if the issues/difficulties/symptoms/behaviors are being addressed, reduced, improved, or continue to escalate if goals are not set? I believe we must first identify the frequency, intensity, duration, and onset of the client's current issues/difficulties/symptoms/behaviors in order to set goals. In goal setting, I encourage clients to prioritize and identify the top 3 issues/difficulties/symptoms/behaviors they would first like to address.
