Hello! My name is Katie Douglas. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have worked in mental health since 2004 with a large variety of populations. My approach to therapy is behavioral and social learning. I have experience working with all ages and enjoy working with individuals and couples, as well as addressing depression and anxiety.
My approach
I utilize a lot of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and am also trained and certified in Applied Behavior Analysis.
My focus
I commonly work with individuals with depression and anxiety, as well as address communication issues and self-esteem. I also have extensive experience working with neurodiverse individuals.
My communication style
I am friendly, and light-hearted, with a sense of humor (when appropriate). I work to make clients feel at ease and comfortable with the therapeutic process.
My journey to mental healthcare
I knew I wanted to help people, but also knew that bodily fluids weren't for me (so the medical field was out). Helping people grow as humans and be the best version of themselves is incredibly fulfilling for me.
My goals for you
Setting goals is something I work directly with the client. This is their time, and I want them to get the most out of it. I ask about goals and work to ensure that I understand what the client's goals are.
My first session with you
I start with a brief introduction of myself, then ask for them to do the same. I then ask about what brings them into therapy, and we go from there.
