Hello there, my name is Albert Cagganello and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have well over 20 years of experience in helping people navigate their challenges in life. I view therapy as a partnership and I consider my clients the experts in what would be most helpful to them.
My approach
I have specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy, specifically DBT, trauma therapies and I am well versed in the general principles of the helping professions. I strive to form partnerships with my clients in a non-judgmental environment.
My focus
I primarily work with adults, people 18 and over. I can be very helpful with the challenges of anxiety, stress, depression, communication, relationship issues, low motivation and trauma.
My communication style
I strive to create a therapeutic alliance in which the person feels understood, heard and supported. Validation of the person's experience is critical.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was always attracted to the helping profession. After my time in the Air Force, I had the opportunity to get to know a social worker at the Veterans Administration. I asked her about her work and that sparked my interest. Now thirty years later, I continue to be driven by a passion to engage others in overcoming obstacles and living their best life.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting by engaging the client in an exploration of their priorities, values and challenges.
My first session with you
In the first session, I give my clients the opportunity to decide how they would like to use their time, to ask me questions and to express their wishes of me as a therapist. I would also explain the principles of telehealth and the assessment/goal setting process.
