I am a licensed clinical mental health therapist in the state of Florida and Wyoming. I approach therapy by developing a collaborative approach to meet your needs and develop goals. My practice focus is on areas of trauma recovery, anxiety, relationships, and those negatively impacted by trauma/abuse aspects from engagement in social media/technology. I work with all ages though have specialization with children, adolescents, and young adults. I look forward to hearing from you.
My approach
I approach therapy through a comfortable environment to develop your goals for addressing and treating the areas identified by you that brought you to therapy. My directive in therapy is eclectic to a client using a client-centered therapy approach. Theoretical approaches I incorporate into your treatment are cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral modification, solution-focused therapy, creative arts, areas of somatic therapy, and feminist theory. I am trained and certified in clinical trauma treatment, grief therapy, as well as previously forensic therapy.
My focus
I am comfortable working with any areas of treatment needs with respectful treatment. I am culturally aware and open to a direct approach as needed to learn more about your treatment needs. I work with any age or gender. My practice focuses on children, adolescents, and young adults who are having behavioral and/or mental health disturbances that impact their well-being. I have a forensic background that addresses those involved in criminal justice, foster care, and other areas of life challenges.
My communication style
A comfortable safe environment is developed in our sessions. I am open and comfortable with all situations that arise while staying with you to work together in. I am the type of therapist who will address areas of need while remaining with you during the emotions that arise while providing support to you until you're on the other side of a positive change. I am direct if needed to help you grow past avoidance and open to your thoughts on working with me.
My journey to mental healthcare
I spent many years working in behavioral treatment centers. During my undergrad, I decided to see a therapist for issues I felt were triggered and impacting my parenting. Once I met and found my therapist match she helped me see causes and resolution to areas I wanted to address. After learning how much healing changed my life, my relationships, and my child positively I decided to continue my academics to help others. I work with all ages however focus my practice on adolescents, children, and young adults due to the impact of how if someone was there for me during this time possibly I would have healthier responses to life challenges.
My goals for you
Goal development is key to working on the "hard stuff" and learning skills to move forward positively. You are the expert of you. We will work together based on areas you want to address and develop healthy goals to meet during time together in therapy.
My first session with you
First sessions may be uncomfortable or nerve-wracking for some. In our first sessions, we will begin with speaking to get to know one another. We will touch on areas that brought you to therapy and begin to establish your treatment goals. We will set a schedule and review different treatment approaches that you can expect on the way through your therapy journey.
