My name is Sala Hilaire. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Master Addiction Counselor, Certified Anger Management Specialist, and a Certified Grief Informed Professional.
My approach
My practice philosophy is to treat the "whole person," addressing each client's physical, emotional, social, spiritual and cultural needs. I do this by creating and promoting conditions conducive to personal growth and development. I provide solution-focused treatment using Mindfulness interventions that aim to help individuals, couples, and families attain optimal functioning at home, school, work, and in society.
My focus
My clinical expertise and many years of experience include work with individuals in crisis; survivors of emotional and physical abuse/trauma; the LGBTQ+ community and persons addressing issues related to addictions, grief/loss, self-esteem, and stress. I have over 30 years of experience as a therapist.
My communication style
I create an environment where my clients are a part of their healing process. It is a space where rapport is built, trust is established and self-awareness is the goal.
My journey to mental healthcare
By becoming a therapist, I was choosing to continue my family's tradition of being healers. I love being able to support people with their healing. Being a therapist is my calling.
My goals for you
Every time I have a session with clients, we work through the goals of the last session and develop the goals for the next session.
My first session with you
The first session is about building rapport, determining the need, and developing a plan to support the client's healing journey.
