Hi! My name is Brittany Flowers. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I believe that understanding and managing our thoughts, experiences, and social connections is the vehicle to improved quality of life. I engage clients in exploring these areas and provide a safe and open environment for you to reflect on your experiences and challenge any thoughts and belief systems that are negatively impacting your mental health.
My approach
I typically use Cognitive Behavioral approaches combined with person-centered and narrative therapies to assist clients in achieving treatment goals. For clients with BPD, I focus more on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques.
My focus
Clients who are in the LGBTQIA+ community, clients who are feeling stuck in life, experiencing anxiety or depression, living with trauma, OCD, BPD, or Bipolar Disorder are best matches for me. Much of my career has been focused around these populations.
My communication style
Many clients tell me I am naturally calm and relaxed, which helps reduce their anxiety about opening up in therapy. I am very open and non-judgmental. I believe we are all unique individuals who are walking different paths of life for a reason. It is my hope that you will feel supported and safe in your sessions with me.
My journey to mental healthcare
During our first session, I would like for us to get to know each and build a healthy therapeutic foundation. We will begin discussing your reasons for coming to therapy and the outcomes you wish to achieve. This session is where we will lay the groundwork together.
My goals for you
I decided to become a therapist after losing my father in high school and going to see a therapist for myself. She was an amazing therapist that helped me to see the true benefits of seeking therapy and taking care of my mental health. I became very passionate about sharing that same experience with others after my time with her. Knowing that I have changed many lives just as she did for me drives me to continue in this field of work.
My first session with you
I prefer a collaborative approach to setting goals. This approach allows you to express your needs and where you would like to go in treatment and gives me leverage and space to offer interventions and objectives that will help you get there.
