Aloha! My name is Terry-Ann Moses, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). While I am in Kauai, HI, I can see clients across the State via telehealth. My approach to therapy is reflected by the quote “Many hands make light work”, This quote reminds us that the load we carry is lighter when shared, especially in an empathetic, supportive, and nurturing environment. I primarily work with individuals and couples to manage anxiety, depression, and other major life stressors.
My approach
My approach to providing therapy is primarily based on individual client needs. However, I mainly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered, and Solution Focused Therapy as these approaches allow for more collaboration between therapist and client.
My focus
I work with a diverse group of clients (adults 18 years and over), that vary across age, race, ethnicity, gender orientation, sexual orientation, as well as socioeconomic status. I assist these clients with developing the coping skills necessary to manage anxiety, depression, relationship issues, interpersonal relationships, and other challenges that we face over the course of our lifetime.
My communication style
My goal is to create a warm, engaging atmosphere that allows clients to speak their truth without fear of judgment. I believe that direct, honest communication is the best way to limit misunderstandings and to ensure that both the client and therapist are on the same page as we move forward together.
My journey to mental healthcare
Throughout my career, I have realized that many of the clients that I worked with lacked the necessary support needed to assist them with meeting their goals. Many of these clients have been derailed (intentionally and unintentionally) by the people they trusted the most. I have also worked with clients who are the biggest cheerleaders for their family and friends, but often have no one to turn to when they need help the most. In my role as a therapist, I want to be a source of encouragement and unconditional support to those who need it the most as well as provide my clients to develop the tools that will allow them to be the best versions of themselves.
My goals for you
I believe that my clients are in the driver’s seat when it comes to knowing what they want to get out of therapy. There are some folks who have clear concise goals, and others who know they need a change, but aren’t sure where to start. Wherever they are on their journey, my goal is to help them develop the tools they need to get to their destination.
My first session with you
In our first session, we would discuss what has been happening in their life that led them to take the step to seek therapy. Then we would explore how we can best work together to achieve their goals.
