Hello, my name is Yumi Lemaster and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I'd love to get to know you and what your primary concerns and issues are that bring you to healing here first and foremost and then work to process deeper core trends and issues that might perpetuate your hurt and pain. I'm also very solution-oriented and like to provide practical tools and spiritual inspirational words to help heal all of you.
My approach
I like to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help challenge the thoughts and emotions that affect your decisions and choices which may continue to harm you. I also like to utilize person-centered therapy to help you validate and understand yourself as well as to come to accept that no one is perfect and we all need a little more validation and acceptance of those imperfections.
My focus
My specialties are in trauma treatment, PTSD, and an array of phases of life issues, grief and loss, and relationship issues as well as faith-based issues as a Christian.
My communication style
I like to provide a very compassionate and validating environment first and foremost for what you might be dealing with, and yet at the same time I like to challenge you to get past the unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that continue to hurt yourself and possibly others that you care about. We will be very in-depth and psychoanalyze things and your life but also be very solution-oriented.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always been intrigued as to how our emotions and our brains work to affect our overall well-being. Having had a lot of personal adverse childhood experiences has always led me to understand myself as well as have great empathy for others that hurt. Finding the path to my career in Social Work was a calling that came at the right time of my life by God and I believe I am to help people feel empowered, and find peace, purpose, and healing for their lives in this venue. It is a great pleasure and privilege to be let into the hearts and minds of people who are often very vulnerable and afraid to trust and I do not take this lightly and feel very rewarded to do this kind of work.
My goals for you
I like to use motivational interviewing to help patients figure out what their goals are first in therapy as well as their life and then help them to stay on task with specifics for each week for certain goals using CBT, motivational interviewing as well as the SMART goal model
My first session with you
I would say to expect that I will be inquiring about the most pertinent issues that have brought the patient to therapy and set guidelines as to what to expect in future sessions as well as to leave the session with some understanding or feeling validated for their current distress, possibly even solutions and tasks to work on for the next week.
