I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who is passionate about supporting my clients as they each walk through their individual journeys. Above all else, I believe in empowerment of my clients to be the best, most self-aware, versions of themselves. I am particularly skilled in bringing a warm and comforting approach as we dive into difficult topics.
My approach
My therapeutic approach integrates different interventions depending on what is needed for the client I am working with. I tend to lean towards a Narrative Therapy backbone to most of my work, with a special emphasis on my clients owning their own narrative. I also tend to implore techniques from CB-T, DBT, Mindfulness, Solution Focused, Reality, Existential, Feminist, Gestalt, Post Modern, and Client-Centered therapeutic approaches.
My focus
I have worked with a variety of clients and have worked particularly well with concerns around LGBTQ+ status, existentialism, depression, anxiety, PTSD, other trauma-related conditions, adolescents as well as adults, eating disorders, suicide, and self-harm, and any other issues of identity or just not knowing what one's "purpose" is in life. I have also done extensive work with domestic violence.
My communication style
I like to create an environment where my clients are comfortable enough to express themselves freely and openly in non-judgment. Through building a trusting bond with clients I am able to guide them towards empowerment so they can own their own choices and feel in control of their lives.
My journey to mental healthcare
When I was in 7th grade I had two good friends that were in a relationship. I felt as if I had a sixth sense, being able to decipher what each one of them wanted to say to each other but for whatever reason they struggled with. This deep sense of empathy and understanding I felt toward relationships started me down a journey where I've been able to continue to help people see the things within themselves they were just not aware existed the whole time. I have also been selfishly curious about my own mental health, as many therapists are, and so by doing this work, I am constantly able to check in with my own mental health.
My goals for you
I believe goal setting needs to be driven by the clients' own desires and as a clinician, I am here to hold accountability and support. Through my empowerment approach, I want the client to really "own" their own goals, rather than have them dictated to them.
My first session with you
Clients should expect a brief introduction, the ability to ask me any questions they may have, and a space to dive into the "what" and "why" that brings them to therapy in the first place. I like to keep it laid back and open to hear and learn about the client, especially in the first session.
