Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Amr!

My name is Dr. Amr Kireem, a clinical psychologist and licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois. I have been working with clients since 2009 who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, addiction, OCD, PTSD/trauma, relationship issues, codependency, life transitions, and other symptoms. Applying evidence-based approaches, changing faulty assumptions, and finding HOPE are the keys to a successful outcome while keeping the individual's culture and ethnicity in mind. “It is not one size fits all.” Empathy, genuine acceptance, and understanding are essential to change and are the road to establishing a therapeutic alliance with you.

My approach

While I tend to focus on CBT, I found other approaches such as DBT, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic, and others to work the best with certain disorders. I learned to focus on what you struggle with and need to change. I believe treating you as a whole person, not just focusing on the disorder, is essential to positive change. our disorder is just one part of our personalities. Hence, I need to know you well in order to tailor the treatment plan that fits you.

My focus

I have been providing therapy to adolescents, adults of all ages, and couples. Many of my clients experience anxiety in different forms, including depression, ADHD, addiction, and relationship issues.

My communication style

I believe you will find it much easier than you might think to begin your journey with me. I am here to make you feel comfortable enough to open up and share as much as you like. There’s no judgment here at all. I can promise you will experience genuineness, empathy, and unconditional acceptance. We all need help at some point in our lives and that is Just Ok.

My journey to mental healthcare

My first career was in law enforcement right after college, however, I find myself more interested in helping, understanding, and making a positive change in people's lives instead of arresting them and destroying their future. Therefore, I went back to school after four years in this field with the goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. I had to earn another bachelor's in psychology, a master and a doctorate in clinical psychology. I worked in every setting before opening my private practice in 2015. By nature, I focus on and find the good in people and believe in their ability to become the best version of themselves. I have seen many people experience success in transforming their lives. That is the most reward I would ask for.

My goals for you

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. However, during our initial session, we will identify the most appropriate goal to start with based on your priorities.

My first session with you

Clients should expect to feel comfortable to talk and share openly as if they are thinking with a loud voice, saying whatever comes to mind, then I will be asking some clarifying questions to put things into perspective and conceptualize the initial treatment plan.
