My name is Claire Brown and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My approach to therapy is making it what YOU want and need it to be. I see clients with a diverse range of needs, including mental health and substance use disorders.
My approach
I typically use a variety of therapeutic approaches. Some of these include Mindfulness, CBT and DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused therapy. My favorite, though, is Person-Centered Therapy. This allows me to offer compassion, empathy and listen to you without judgment. Since therapy is not 'one size fits all', we'll work together to find the one that fits your needs best.
My focus
I'm comfortable treating many different mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, co-dependency, trauma, work-related stressors, and many, many others. Additionally, I'm a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) who has extensive experience supporting those struggling with substance use disorders.
My communication style
I take pride in my relaxed and comforting approach to therapy. My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable being YOU. I accept you just as you are, no need to dress up, have a tidy space, or be 'polished'. Let's meet exactly how you are!
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always felt a strong sense of caring for others. As a therapist, I get to make that my career! I truly can't think of anything more valuable to do with my time. It's such an honor to have you consider me as a potential therapist.
My goals for you
Goal setting is an important part of therapy. It directs the course of our time together and allows us to evaluate if we're making progress together. We will typically set a couple of goals during our first few sessions together. If we ever need to change your goals as time goes on, we definitely can!
My first session with you
During our first sessions together, we will simply get to know each other better. Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. My hope is that as we build trust with each other, you'll feel more comfortable opening up and we can continue to make progress together.
