Hi there, I'm Angelica!

Hello there! My name is Ama Angelica Marilyn Ronke, LCSW, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share with you a little about my approach to therapy and my focus areas of practice. As a licensed clinical social worker in both Indiana and Florida, I am dedicated to providing my clients with a safe and supportive space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I understand that taking the first step can be daunting and may bring up a lot of questions and concerns. I want to assure you that in our first session together, we will explore your needs and what you hope to gain from therapy. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and I am here to listen and support you in a non-judgmental and empathetic way. You can expect a safe and confidential space where you can share your thoughts and feelings without fear of being judged. Thank you again for considering therapy. I am here to support you and look forward to our first session together.

My approach

In my practice, I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, Strength-based Approach, Client Centered, and Solution Focused techniques. These modalities allow me to tailor my approach to each individual client's unique needs, ensuring that they receive the most effective and personalized care possible.

My focus

My focus areas of practice include addressing Depression, Anxiety, Career Issues, Multicultural Issues, LGBTQi, as well as several other general areas of practice, including Relationship Issues, Self-Esteem, Life Transitions, Grief and Loss, Substance Abuse, and Stress Management. I believe that therapy is an empowering and transformative process, and I am passionate about helping my clients achieve their goals and live their best lives.

My communication style

It is important to me that you feel heard and understood, and I am committed to creating an environment where you feel comfortable to open up. I will follow your lead and go where you need me to in session. Whether you want to focus on a specific issue or just need someone to talk to, I am here to support you. Together, we will work towards achieving your goals and finding ways to improve your overall wellbeing.

My journey to mental healthcare

Becoming a therapist was not an easy decision for me, but it was one that I made with a deep sense of purpose. I have experienced my own share of trauma, and I know how hard it can be to find someone who truly understands and listens without judgment. I want to be that safe space for others, to offer compassion and honesty in a way that helps them heal and grow.
I believe that everyone has the ability to take control of their own lives, and I want to empower my clients to do just that. By creating a space where they feel heard and accepted, I hope to give them the tools they need to navigate their own challenges and find their own solutions.
I know that my own experiences have given me a unique perspective, and I see that as a valuable asset in my work. I am committed to being non-judgmental and upholding the highest moral standards as a therapist. For me, this is not just a job, but a calling. I am excited to embark on this journey and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I work with.

My goals for you

As a professional, I always use SMART goals to help my clients set and achieve their objectives. SMART goals stand for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Let me break down each element for you: Specific: Goals should be clear and concise. Avoid vague language and be as specific as possible about what you want to achieve. Measurable: Goals should be measurable so that you can track your progress and determine when you have achieved them. Achievable: Goals should be achievable. Avoid setting goals that are too ambitious or unrealistic. Start with small goals and work your way up as you gain confidence. Relevant: Goals should be relevant to your overall objectives. Make sure that your goals align with your values and are in line with the larger picture of what you want to achieve. Time-bound: Goals should be time-bound. Set a deadline for when you want to achieve your goals. By using SMART goals, I can help my clients to break down their objectives into smaller, more manageable steps. This approach helps to keep them motivated and focused on achieving their goals.

My first session with you

I understand that starting therapy can be a daunting experience, but I want to assure you that I will do everything possible to create a safe and welcoming environment for you. During the first session, I prioritize getting to know you and your unique experiences. I will take the time to gather information and ask questions that will help me understand what's going on with you and how it's affecting your personal and professional life. This will help me tailor our sessions to your specific needs and goals. I also like to find out about your presenting concerns and symptoms, so we can work together to address them. By understanding how your struggles are impacting your functioning, we can work towards a path of healing and growth. Finally, I will assign homework, which I prefer to call "Healing Accelerators." These assignments will help you make the most out of your time in therapy and continue the work we do in our sessions between appointments. I believe that this approach will accelerate your healing and help you achieve your goals much faster.
