My name is Elizabeth Walden. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I use a personalized, client-centered approach recognizing that you are the expert on you! I'm here to facilitate growth and change using strategies designed uniquely for you based on your strengths, perception of the world, past behaviors and hopes for the future.
My approach
I use a solution-oriented, cognitive-behavioral model of care where we identify your strengths and apply those to areas where you're struggling or want things to improve. We work together to identify your top two or three goals and then set you up for success by designing doable steps, strategies and tactics to reach them. We also look at your thought and behavioral patterns which gives you more power over how you are in the world.
My focus
I primarily work with individual adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, job stress, situational depression or stress, relationship issues, addiction, ADHD, codependency, trauma, family issues, hopelessness and anger.
My communication style
I am unconditionally supportive of you. I am calm, positive, empathic and authentic. I share a variety of perspectives for you to consider, understanding that there are no "right" ways to do things. There is only the best way for you. My hope is that you will feel valued, challenged, supported and free to share knowing you are in a judgment-free zone.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always enjoyed helping other people reach success. I am able to put myself aside and focus on the person in front of me - fully understand his or her perspective - and suggest solutions that fit and work. I have great confidence in people's ability to change and see amazing strengths in everyone. I have always been driven to make a difference. It makes my soul happy and I feel fulfilled.
My goals for you
I like for clients to set two or three goals. Focusing on what's most important and setting strategies to get there brings about well-being and a sense of confidence. It can also cause a domino effect - where the achievement of one goal can lead to the achievement of the next, and so on.
My first session with you
In our first session, I do a lot of listening. I might ask specific questions or ask you to expand on something you share. It's most important for me to get a sense of what's happening in your life and what brought you to therapy. I am here to listen, understand you, and help you begin to develop a plan for change.
