Hi there, I'm Rashida!

Hello, I am Dr. Taylor. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I specialize in a Solution-Focused Therapeutic approach. This approach focuses on helping clients find solutions to their current challenges and develop the skills they need to be successful. I believe each individual has the tools to reach their goals, and I am here to help facilitate that process.

My approach

I utilize a solution-focused approach based on scientific evidence, oriented towards achieving goals, and focused on strengths. My objective is to assist clients in recognizing and concentrating on their strengths, resources, and solutions to reach their desired outcomes most efficiently and effectively.

My focus

As a practitioner, I specialize in working with teenagers and their families who are facing a variety of challenges, such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychological and behavioral difficulties, and issues related to family dynamics. My expertise extends to the treatment of multiple conditions, including but not limited to Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Substance Use Disorders, Trauma, etc. I also assist individuals and families in coping with life changes, relationship concerns, and parenting challenges. I adopt a collaborative and strength-oriented approach to treatment that emphasizes identifying personal strengths and their utilization to create positive changes in one's life. My foremost priority is to create a safe and supportive environment for clients that fosters growth and healing.

My communication style

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I aim to establish a collaborative, inclusive, and nurturing environment for my clients. I aim to create a safe space for my clients to explore, process, and heal. I tailor each session to the specific needs of the individual while keeping the focus on creating an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding. I strongly believe in the power of connection and collaboration, and I endeavor to foster a sense of connection between myself and my clients. It is my priority that my clients feel heard, seen, and respected during our sessions. I value open communication and trust, which allows my clients to feel comfortable enough to explore and express their thoughts and feelings. I approach my clients with empathy and understanding while providing guidance and support to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. In my sessions, I strive to create an atmosphere of warmth, safety, and respect so my clients can find healing, growth, and transformation.

My journey to mental healthcare

Throughout my life, I have always been a compassionate person and knew from an early age that I wanted to work with people in a meaningful way. After completing my undergraduate studies in sociology while minoring in psychology, I pursued a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. During my graduate program, I had the opportunity to gain experience in clinical and research settings, which allowed me to develop a unique set of skills. Upon completing my degree, I was thrilled to start my career and work with clients on a variety of issues, including marital problems, parenting struggles, and mental health concerns. My first few years as an LMFT were both challenging and rewarding. I worked diligently to establish a rapport with my clients and help them find solutions to their issues. In addition, I aspire to enhance my expertise by attending workshops and conferences to stay current with the best practices in the field. I am proud to say that I am now a highly regarded LMFT in my community, and I remain committed to providing the highest level of care to my clients.

My goals for you

As an LMFT, I firmly believe that setting goals is a crucial aspect of a successful psychotherapy session. I work closely with my clients to identify their therapeutic objectives by gathering information about their history and concerns. Together, we develop SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) goals tailored to their unique needs and desired outcomes. We also discuss strategies and techniques that can help them achieve their goals, as well as any potential obstacles that may arise. I emphasize the importance of breaking down larger goals into smaller, more manageable steps to reduce frustration and increase motivation. Additionally, we determine the best way to track their progress and celebrate their successes. My ultimate goal is to empower my clients to take ownership of their goals and find success in reaching them.

My first session with you

As your therapist, I believe every client deserves a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment to share their story and embark on their journey. In our first session, I will take the time to get to know you and learn about your background. We will discuss your objectives for therapy and the issues you want to work on. I will also provide information about my therapeutic approach so you can understand how I can support you. We will address any worries or fears you may have about the process and talk about strategies that work best for you. Together, we will develop a customized plan to help you achieve your goals. I will also offer you resources, such as books and articles, to aid your journey. Finally, we will review the confidentiality of our work together and address any questions or concerns you may have.
