Hello! My name is Melinda Newman and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Montana. I work with clients through telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults with depression, anxiety, anger and mood disorders. I provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Anger Management to help clients in their day to day functioning and healing process.
My approach
Meeting clients where they are at is my main therapeutic approach. My goals as a therapist are to be supportive, show compassion, provide a safe space and work collaboratively to develop strategies and tools to achieve your goals through a strength based approach. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Anger Management.
My focus
I work with teens and adults typically with anxiety, depression, mood disorders and anger. I generally treat anxiety, depression, self-esteem, anger and other mood disorders.
My communication style
My communication style is open, calm and nonjudgmental. I want my clients to feel safe and open to sharing their story with me.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always wanted to help others from a young age. I started working in children's mental health and wanted to become a therapist. I enjoy seeing clients achieve the goals they set for themselves and start to have an understanding of what and why they are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and life changes.
My goals for you
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. These modalities help me and the client move towards a trust and being able to meet their goals in treatment.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you ve been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
