My name is Mike Keegan, and I am licensed as an Independent Mental Health Practitioner in Nebraska.
My approach
I help people process underlying trauma that leads to anxiety, depression, relational issues, and addictions. I utilize Somatic Experiencing, the Meadow's model, and other various trauma-informed approaches.
My focus
If you are struggling with anxiety, sadness, shame, guilt, or feeling stuck in a rut, then I could be the right person to help you. I also have extensive experience working with veterans, first responders, and their family members.
My communication style
It all starts with listening to get to know you, what are you thinking, feeling, experiencing, and hoping to achieve in therapy and in life. Feedback is given in a direct, but kind manner. Accountability (with kindness) is key.
My journey to mental healthcare
Therapy is my third career following my service on active duty in the Army and then working in the group home industry providing services to people with developmental disabilities and serious mental illness. I chose therapy as a profession because the part I loved most about my previous careers was the ability to get to know and connect with people on a deeper level than we typically do in our culture today.
My goals for you
Goals are established together in the first session and open to adjusting at any time based upon current circumstances. My personal goal in each session is to have you leave with a more regulated nervous system than you entered with. My long-term goal is to help you finish therapy, equipped to be more comfortable with yourself and with your life as soon as possible.
My first session with you
An opportunity to share your story, what has brought you to seek therapy, and what do you hope to gain from it. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little and to begin to establish your goals.
