Hi! I'm Carol Brusca, a licensed Marriage and Family therapist and Trauma specialist. I have extensive experience working with trauma, Vicarious Trauma and helping individuals create wellness in their lives. My approach to therapy is to help individuals find out why they are stuck and coming up with strategies to help them move forwards.
My approach
The most common theoretical approaches I use are, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Narrative and Person Centeted.
My focus
I typically work with adult individuals and couples. The most common types of concerns I see are Trauma, anxiety, adjustment disorders, depression, school related concerns and individuals who are sorting through how to increase the quality of their lives.
My communication style
I try to meet people where they are. I see myself as a guide to support people in their journey to creating the life they would like.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started reading Freud and Jung case studies at about 12 years old. I realized how fascinated I was by how people brains/feelings/emotions impact their lives. I wanted to be able to support people in achieving their goals, or just holding a space for someone to feel seen and heard, if that's what they need.
My goals for you
I see goal setting as the small steps that need to be taken to reach the desired destination. I support clients in defining their goals and figuring out the path to achieve those goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, I will answer any question the individual might have about me or my therapeutic approach. Next I will ask what brought them to seeking support, what isn't working and what is working. This information will help guide the therapeutic process.
