Hi! My name is Lisa Fuller, I am a therapist with a License in Clinical Social Work. I use a holistic, client-centered approach to therapy. My practice focuses on adults dealing with the stresses of life who desire to regulate their emotions, elevate their mood, and find solutions to problems they are facing.
My approach
My approach to therapy is nonjudgemental, highly relational, and client-directed. I always want you to be comfortable with our time together and satisfied that you are reaching your desired outcomes. I work with clients using a trauma-informed mindfulness approach that focuses on regulating emotions, and improving quality of life. My work is heavily influenced by the following theoretical approaches: Polyvagal theory, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-informed care, Somatic Awareness, and strengths based approach.
My focus
I typically work with highly motivated adults experiencing the stresses of life. Many of my clients would like to improve conditions like anxiety, depression, trouble adjusting with life transitions, divorce, infidelity, job loss or change, issues of spirituality, and the stresses of parenting and family life.
My communication style
My goal in therapy is to create an environment that feels calm, secure, and safe. I have lived the messiness of life and have no judgement for your situation. I want to walk beside you as you navigate tough waters until we're on the other side.
My journey to mental healthcare
I graduated in 2000 with a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma and started my therapy career. I took several years off to raise a family and even started a local nonprofit that serves under-resourced students and families in Albuquerque. I have returned to this work out of my love for sharing what I have learned about emotional regulation and my desire to be a safe, nonjudgemental space for those who are struggling. There have been many advances in the field in the last 20 years. I am really excited about the research that has been done on the brain, the nervous system, and trauma, and the effective treatments resulting from that research.
My goals for you
Together we will decide where you are and where you are wanting to go. We will set realistic goals together as a team. I will not push you farther than you want to go. I will let you decide what success together looks like.
My first session with you
In our first session we will spend some time getting to know each other. We'll talk about what therapy looks like and approaches I may use to work with you along the way. We'll work together on a picture of what health and peace in your life would look like.
