My name is William Lancellotti and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Rhode Island working with clients by Telehealth. I am passionate in helping clients of all ages work through life's challenges. I have worked in the health care field for over 40 years as a doctor of Chiropractic and currently as an LMHC.
My approach
My approach to therapy is client centered and eclectic which yields diverse therapeutic modalities to choose from in helping patients to understand themselves as they work to achieve goals on their journey towards positive change and living their best life. I will treat you with empathy, open mindedness, respect and unconditional positive regard.
My focus
My practice is open to anyone who is looking to understand themselves and unlock their potential. I work with clients of all ages who seek help with mental health issues. I am well versed in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, addiction, and relationship issues.
My communication style
My communication style is genuine and somewhat transparent. I believe that trust is invaluable within our therapeutic alliance. I have the ability to listen without judgement. I believe an environment that feels comfortable, safe, respectful, and non-judgmental is essential to helping client's feel at ease and free to talk about any problems that they are experiencing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was a Chiropractor for 30 years. I practiced with my brother, sister, and father. Unfortunately, I suffered from an injury that forced me to stop practicing. Throughout my lifetime I had always been interested in psychology. My fascination with the human mind and how it works drove me to return to school and earn my degree. My decision to become a therapist was easy because I wanted to help people who were not living up to their potential due to mental health issues. I saw first hand the effectiveness and benefits of psychotherapy when a family member was successfully treated for mental health issues.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is to work together in an effort to help you define what you would like to accomplish through therapy. Initially, I help you establish small goals to help you build confidence and work towards achieving bigger goals.
My first session with you
Our initial session is a based on you and I getting to know one another and get an idea on how to proceed. During our first session I will ask you about your history including your childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends), current living situation, career, and general health. I will ask you about your symptoms and what brought to therapy.
