Hi! My name is Amanda Finn. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have about 10 years of experience in mental health. My approach to therapy is meeting people where they are at and helping them reach the goals they set for themselves.
My approach
My approach in regard to providing therapy is person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. The theoretical approaches that I utilize are cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and trauma-informed care.
My focus
I have experience with and am comfortable working with the following: trauma, suicidal thoughts/gestures, anger, anxiety, depression, mental health crisis, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, substance use, grief and loss, behavioral issues, and personality disorders.
My communication style
The tone/environment I create in sessions is a non-judgmental and supportive one. It feels like working with a genuine, down-to-earth confidant who has a direct and honest yet supportive communication style along with healthy boundaries who will help you attain your goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been working in the mental health field for close to 10 years with a wide range of experiences including crisis work, residential treatment, substance use treatment, case management, and individual and group therapy in a crisis stabilization unit setting. Additionally, my personal therapy experience has been a positive one, and that has motivated me to start the journey of becoming a therapist. I feel passionate about helping people, especially those who are struggling with mental health symptoms. I want to normalize going to therapy and provide a positive experience for my clients. Seeing clients meet their goals and improve their symptoms and quality of life are things that drive me to do this work.
My goals for you
I like for clients to identify specific and attainable goals.
