Jocelyn Jingwa, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC. I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with 13 years of experience in mental health nursing and in delivering quality care in various mental health settings. My focus areas of practice are psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy.
My approach
My approach is on holistic patient-centered care. Every patient is treated with dignity and respect and a provider-patient relationship is built so that the patient finds a safe and professional space to discuss their mental health problems and work collaboratively with the provider in developing individualized evidence-based treatment plans aimed at attaining mental wellness and improving overall quality of life.
My focus
I work with individuals 18 years and older who have anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, schizophrenic disorders, bipolar disorders, Insomnia disorder, ADHD/ADD and/or post-traumatic stress disorders
My communication style
I provide a safe environment that encourages open communication and collaboration. Every patient will be treated with dignity and respect irrespective of their struggles. The patients will feel they are being heard as a person and that they're not just a diagnosis.
My journey to mental healthcare
My goal is to increase access to mental health care and decrease the mortality rate from untreated mental illness and to erase mental health stigma across different cultures through sensitization and education. I strive to increase knowledge of the disease and treatment process to increase treatment adherence and improve patient outcomes. I provide support to patients and families struggling with mental health illnesses from a variety of cultures.
