Hi, My name is Martin McClenon. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas, as well as a Combat Navy Veteran. I have been practicing for 3 years in community health, outpatient, inpatient, and private practice settings. I am experienced in facilitating healthy life changes. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma substance use, PTSD, relationship issues, or any other obstacle that prevents you from living the life that you desire; identifying the right therapist for you is an important part of getting yourself back on track.
My approach
I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach. The treatments and methods include Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing(EMDR) to provide comprehensive treatment to fit an individual’s specific needs.
My focus
As a combat Navy Veteran, I have a great deal of experience working with people suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, and various forms of traumas. My lived experiences help connect me to individuals who share these issues. I love to establish strong therapeutic relationships and provide a safe place to share their life stories.
My communication style
I provide a safe space for clients to explore their feelings and thoughts without fear of criticism. I facilitate this process by being present, listening actively, and reflecting the client's emotions and experiences.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was attracted to this career field based on personal experiences. Once I became deliberate in my own personal mental health journey I became dedicated to pay it forward.
My goals for you
I help people identify the necessary tools they need for positive change. Together we will deal with your issues using strength-based interventions. I find that awareness, mindfulness, and being present are characteristics that assist in helping individuals take responsibility for their life experiences.
My first session with you
During our first session, individuals can expect a supportive and collaborative environment where they have the opportunity to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship.
