Hi I'm Kim. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am passionate about helping client's face life's challenges and come out happier, healthier and stronger on the other side.
My approach
In my practice, I often use person centered therapy to meet the client exactly where they are at. I also use a variety of different modalities as needed and have a strong Christian faith that can be incorporated if the client chooses a faith based model of therapy.
My focus
The clients I see are often experiencing major life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, addiction and recovery issues, relationship issues and trauma.
My communication style
I am a very upbeat, positive person. I enjoy being able to laugh and cry with clients and meeting them where they are at. I am focused on being in the present moment and will be my client's biggest advocate.
My journey to mental healthcare
September 11th, 2001, rocked my world! It was during that time that I decided I wanted to go back and get my master's degree and pursue counseling. I saw how fragile life was and I wanted my life to have purpose. I also recently and unexpectedly lost my mom. My mom's death reshifted my focus. With the help of my own therapist, I experienced again first had the power of healing in a therapeutic setting, and I want to continue to offer that benefit and healing to my own clients.
My goals for you
I encourage client's to set their own short-term and long-term goals. I then work to break the goals down in to shorter, easy-to-achieve outcomes.
My first session with you
The first session will include intake questions as well as a general overview of what to expect in the counseling process. I like to find out what the client's needs are and strive to see if I am a good match for them.
