Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Chrissy!

My name is Christine (Chrissy) Wagner, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in Texas. I have a master's degree in social work, licensed clinical social work. I have over 30 years of social and human service experience in family and child welfare. I have worked with Hospice patients and families and worked with group therapy and individual therapy. I work with adults and specialize in aging, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, and inner conflict, using cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based and emotion-focused therapy. I am here to help you address your mental health concerns with a patient-centered strength approach to fit your needs.

My approach

My approach varies based on the needs of each client. I mostly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion-focused therapy. Understanding our thoughts and feelings helps increase awareness to learn to implement positive thoughts and positive coping skills. Both treatment modalities help me and the client build an understanding and work together to reach their goals.

My focus

I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions, social pressures, inner conflict, grief, and loneliness. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, isolation, being overwhelmed, worthlessness, and angry. I work to guide and navigate my clients through these transition periods and to build positive coping skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.

My communication style

My communication style is calm and professional, client-centered, active listening, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything in a relaxed environment and judge-free zone.

My journey to mental healthcare

I worked for Children's Services for 30 years, and during that time, I completed my master's in social work in 2013. During this time, I also worked for Hospice. I retired from CPS and decided to focus my career as a direct therapist, counseling and obtained my clinical license. I have worked with children, individuals, couples, and in group therapy with a wide diversity of individuals from all stages of their life. Mental health does not define who you are; I guide you to become who you want to be. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best version of themselves.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together, this is your treatment, you define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building an understanding and trust between us, and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. We will work together to set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely).

My first session with you

My first session with you is for us to spend much of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building rapport, and me gathering information to help me get a sense of you, your background and where we should go from there. Everyone is different, and I like to listen first, hear, and we decide together what will work best for you before moving forward.
