Welcome, and thank you for considering me as a therapist to partner with you on your therapy journey! I am Christine Buzitsky, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina and Virginia. I have twenty-five years of experience working with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families to address relationship issues, anxiety, depression, women's issues, grief, ADHD, coping with chronic medical concerns, and life transitions. I believe therapy must be individualized to the client. I have specialized training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy. Using various modalities and creating a safe, non-judgmental space, my focus is to assist clients in finding their strengths to achieve their goals by creating a motivating outlook with self-compassion to reach their fullest potential in growing personally.
My approach
As a therapist, my role is to create a trusting client-therapist partnership and foster a team dynamic to address a client's concerns. At the start of the first session, I establish that I am a part of their team to assist them in creating and implementing action plans to allow for growth toward reaching their therapeutic goals. I incorporate various therapy techniques to individualize and tailor therapy specific to the client while implementing tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy. Everyone's journey is unique, and working as a team with open communication is essential to finding the right balance for individual success.
My focus
I often work with individuals from teenagers to adults, couples, and families to learn to cope with life stress and transitions, anxiety, depression, chronic medical concerns, women's issues, grief, and relationship issues. My focus is to create an environment that allows clients to feel comfortable exploring opportunities to face challenges and turn them into personal growth opportunities.
My communication style
I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space that will allow clients to identify their strengths and explore paths that will enable them to achieve their goals while creating a motivating outlook with self-compassion to reach their fullest potential in growing personally. Additionally, I encourage clients to remind themselves that their emotional growth is dependent on their determination and openness, and the opportunity to grow as an individual is never-ending unless we choose to close that door. I also feel humor is essential in our lives; with this approach, there are times when we need to sit back and laugh to remind ourselves that being human is a trial-and-error situation.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a teenager, I felt strongly drawn to the therapy field. At that time, the idea of supporting people in their emotional growth, learning new ways to cope, transitioning through life stressors, and developing and maintaining healthy relationships was an area that I wanted to play a part in. I have been fortunate to acquire clinical experience ranging from children as young as four to adults in their nineties. Through developing those therapeutic relationships, I have come to value witnessing clients' psychological growth. In supporting clients' therapeutic walks, I have become increasingly inspired to assist others in achieving their goals by utilizing therapeutic techniques. Since those teenage years, I have fortunately encountered numerous opportunities to assist clients in reaching their goals and have benefited through those relationships to continue my learning as a therapist.
My goals for you
As a therapist, I believe my role is to create a trusting client-therapist partnership and foster a team dynamic to address a client's concerns. At the start of the first session, I establish that I am a part of their team to assist them in creating and implementing action plans to allow for growth toward reaching their therapeutic goals. Therapy work is a partnership on a journey in that I strive to provide the support a client needs and wants. I encourage clients to remember that change is not always comfortable, but it can be an opportunity for positive personal growth; one just needs to be receptive to the opportunity.
My first session with you
As a clinician, I believe in making therapy a safe and comfortable place to share ideas, concerns, struggles, and fears in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. At the start of the first session, I established that I am a part of the client's team to assist them in creating and implementing action plans that lead to whatever therapeutic goals have been set. It is vital for clients to know that therapy work is a partnership. I am upfront that everyone's journey is unique, and working as a team with open communication is essential to finding the right balance for individual success. I explain that personal growth also comes in different forms and looks different for every person. I encourage clients to remember that change is not always comfortable, but it can be an opportunity for positive personal growth, which is dependent on their mindset.
