Hi, my name is John Robles, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has engaged with people, by way of a client-centered approach, to partner with them in continuing their self-improvement journey.
My approach
I have used a variety of approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution therapy, mythopoetic, unconditional positive regard, strategic, trauma focused, mindfulness, and skill development. I am also very willing to try new approaches.
My focus
I have worked with clients struggling with anxiety, stress, post traumatic stress, depression, existential struggles and relational challenges. The conditions I am most comfortable treating are Anxiety, Depression, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
My communication style
I strive to create an environment of emotional safety in which a person can talk about anything that is bothering them and in a non-judgement manner. In working with me, clients feel heard, validated, cared for, and validated as a person . I listen intently. Additionally, client have expressed satisfaction with support for symptom relief while planting seeds for longer term introspection and lasting change.
My journey to mental healthcare
While working in social service after graduating from college, I witnessed the amazing impact therapist had on the lives of children, youth, adults and families. I thought to myself, "Wow, their relieve people's suffering and help them thrive! How do they do that?" This revelation and questions drives me to continually learn, engage and have hope in people to overcome what at times seems insurmountable. I have seen over the years the ability of people to overcome and this also gives me hope for others.
My goals for you
I seek to understand client's situations, desires, challenges and "their story" to inform the direction and goals client's have that they might not fully conceptualize. I approach goal setting as a continual process, in which course corrections are frequently discussed. I believe strongly clients know what they want with help in uncovering their wisdom, strength and resources.
My first session with you
Clients should expect, during the first session, to be made to feel comfortable, welcome, and relaxed. Client should also expect to be able to discuss their expectations, about themselves, about their life, and what is meaningful to them. Client should expect to be engaged as a whole person in a supportive environment. Clients should expect to have therapist genuinely interested in them, their lives and their intentions.
