My name is Xenia Blanco, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Los Angeles, California, working with clients via telehealth. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples, specializing in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, behavior issues, anger management, and ADHD. My approach to therapy is determined by the needs of the client.
My approach
Most often I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems, and Mindfulness to help clients achieve their goals. I give clients the tools to overcome their symptoms and I teach them how to use them.
My focus
I work with young children, teens, families, and adults. I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents, helping them find the underlying causes of their worries and fears, see problems/situations in a new way, and develop coping and problem-solving skills to overcome depression and anxiety.
My communication style
I consider my tone of voice to be the biggest determinant of a good atmosphere in sessions and therefore an important tool in therapy. I like to keep a soft and controlled voice that provides calm and security to clients since my priority is to provide support and guidance.
My journey to mental healthcare
Becoming a therapist was an almost natural thing that happened to me. From a very young age, I liked to listen and help others and I realized that I wanted to work in the social field. First I wanted to be a psychologist, then knowing that as a therapist I would receive extensive training and a variety of treatments to help people, I decided on this career.
My goals for you
Collaborative goal setting has always been my practice. I believe planning therapy goals with clients helps them focus on the problem behaviors and issues they want to work on in sessions and to develop realistic solutions and coping skills for their unique circumstances.
My first session with you
The first session with my clients is definitely important to me and my clients. During the first session, I will ask clients questions to learn about them and their problems, discuss my initial thoughts and observations about what they shared with me, and provide an overview of our sessions. I will answer any questions you have.
