My name is Amanda Saylor, MS, LMFT, Certified School Psychologist. My approach to therapy is casual and comfortable. The therapeutic alliance is the most important thing in regard to therapy and I would love for you to come authentic to who you are. "Therapy is like a massage but for your brain."
My approach
Though trained in many theoretical approaches, I prefer to use a combination of modalities with my clients. I do not see clients as a "one size fits all" and choose to model my therapy sessions around the client and their needs. Some of the most popular approaches used are psychodynamic, CBT, Positive Psychology, and person centered.
My focus
I have met with a variety of clients with many different backgrounds and needs but the most common diagnosis I have worked with include anxiety, ADHD and depression. Having worked in the school system for years, I have worked with numerous children and teenagers.
My communication style
I like to create a safe and comfortable environment so that my clients can feel safe enough to disclose their past trauma and future goals. If you are looking for a very calm and inviting environment, my type of therapy will fit and exceed your standards. My client's report they are very comfortable with me and appreciate how easy is it to come to session.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had an interest in human behavior and why people act and interact, the way they do. I am a hopeful optimistic and believe in positive cognitions having the ability to change lives. I strive to make the world a better place and feel fulfilled in changing people's lives, for the better.

My first session with you
During the first session, I will do an intake. I will ask you a lot of questions and get a lot of information without going into great detail. I will explain my style of therapy and give you a chance to ask any questions you make have. The main goal of the first session is to make sure I am a good fit for you and to make you feel as comfortable as possible, so you look forward to our second session.
