I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a master's degree in Social Work from San Diego State University, where I specialized in Direct Practice. My passion lies in helping Transition Age Youth (TAY), adults, and seniors who are facing severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
My approach
I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, client-centered, and strength-based perspective, focusing on genuineness and empathy. My aim is to help clients connect their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I utilize evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic techniques, harm reduction, and relapse prevention.
My focus
My specialty areas include mood disorders, anxiety, schizophrenia, crisis intervention, grief, substance use, coping skills, and relationship issues. I work with individuals and have experience treating a wide range of concerns, from ADHD and anger management to trauma, self-esteem, and women's issues.
My communication style
My communication style centers on being genuine and empathetic. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. Through active listening and collaborative dialogue, we will work together to gain insight, build resilience, and find meaningful solutions.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to mental healthcare began with a deep desire to provide hope and support to those feeling alone, defeated, and powerless. Having witnessed the profound impact of therapy on people's lives, I was inspired to pursue a career where I could make a difference. My social work education at San Diego State University equipped me with the knowledge and skills to effectively help others heal and thrive.
My goals for you
My goal is to empower you with life and self-affirming skills, such as self-honesty, acceptance, kindness, and forgiveness. I aim to help you find meaning in painful experiences, build resilience, and rebuild your life from the inside out. Together, we will work towards enhancing your well-being and achieving your personal goals.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. I will listen intently to understand your unique story, challenges, and aspirations. We will collaboratively identify your goals and create a personalized treatment plan. You can expect a warm, supportive environment where you feel safe to share and explore your thoughts and feelings.
