Kerri Lynn Gavin LCSW- I work with assiting clients in finding out answers to questions they have regarding psychiatric symtoms, behavioral traits, experience, traumatic situations, and teach them through the strengths perspective, coping skills, and encourage them identify who they are, want to be. There may be a possible referral to higher level of care, suggested by the provider or asked for by the client.
My approach
I use Strengths perspective, Recovery model, DBT, Empowering statements, and Psychoeducation.
My focus
People diagnosed with ADHD, Developmental/Intellectual disabilities, Anxiety, Depression, Phobias, and traumas and older people.
My communication style
I create a safe place for clients to have a voice and also encourage them to be able to tell clinician if anything she says or does is offensive, they don't understand it, or did not feel good after, so they feel validated after doing so.
My journey to mental healthcare
I always wanted to work with other people who were less fortunate than I was/am to assist them in finding the best life possible with the hand they have been dealt.
My goals for you
I encourage clients participation in their goal setting, giving suggestions for them to chose from, and letting them know it is a good way to measure their progess or lack thereof.
My first session with you
To provide information for their initial assessment, compassion, understanding, honesty, kindness, and psychoeducation. Agreeing upon diagnosis given to client by clinician.
