I am Dr Icinda Siqueira Darwin, a multicultural, multi-etnically orientied therapist who is currently licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of California. I speak Spanish and Portuguese as well as English, and see clients in these language backgrounds as well. I have worked extensively as a Community Psychologist, and also have a strong Forensic Psycholgist background, having worked in Prisons and Paroles. I have been in Private Practice for the past few years.
My approach
I work with many oroentations to therapy. Having been practicing for over fourty years, I have had the opportunity to learn many ways of healing, frpm psychoanalytic therapy, which has been my original foundation, to Rational Emotive Therapy. to ACT, and DBT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Rogerian Therapy, all provide useful tools to work with with different patients.
My focus
I typically work with patients who are anxious, or depressed. or bipolar. many of whom have substance abuse issues, drugs or alchohol or both. In Community Health Center and prison settings I worked with many psychotics, schitzophrenics and other varieties of acutely mentally ill patients. I am comfortable treating a variety of the mental;y ill.

The tone or environment I seek to establish with my patients is one of openness, and respect for one another's opinions
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist at a time in my life when I was searching for my future, and I had a vision of what I wanted to spend my life doing to help people.
My goals for you
Goal setting is done instages: at the beginning of yherapy there is a diagnostic phases where, depending on the diagnosis, some goals emerge. After those goals are met. new goals are agreed to as the treatment plan is updated. other goals can be set in the interium
My first session with you
In the first session with me the patients can epect to meet with me and tell me why they are coming to therapy. They will spend much of the first session participating in a diagnostic session in which a treatment plan will be worked on with them.
