Hi there, I'm Kaylani!

My name is Kaylani Rosado and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Middletown, CT and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and young adults. My specialty areas include: anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and stress using a Cognitive Behavioral and Motivational Interviewing approach to empower my clients to use the strengths they already have within them to create positive, healthy changes in their own lives.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies depending on the individual needs of each client. I most frequently use an interpersonal advanced generalist approach drawing from cognitive behavioral techniques as well as motivational interviewing. It is important to me to use a strengths based approach when working with clients to establish a positive relationship and ensure that clients are able to feel safe, valued, and in control of their path forward. My clients and I engage in the work together to create the best and most impactful outcomes possible.

My focus

I have discovered that my approach is a great fit for teens and young adults, especially individuals of color, who may be challenged by life circumstances, generational trauma, and social pressure. This often leads to anxiety, depression, struggles with executive functioning, and overwhelming stress. I work with my clients to empower them by providing insights, coping strategies, and direct feedback so that I can support them in becoming confident and purposeful individuals ready to take on life hurdles.

My communication style

My communication style is direct, calm, and infused with humor. I want my clients to feel heard, seen, and respected. It is important to me to provide clients with a judgement free space and allow them to share with me at their own pace. When clients are meeting with me it should feel like they are in control and I am there to support and guide them to their desired destination. I also welcome client feedback at any time about my approach.

My journey to mental healthcare

I decided to become a therapist because as a teen and young adult I experienced challenges that affected my mental health. When I encountered those challenges at multiple points I was able to push forward with the help of some key adults. As I grew into a happy and healthy adult I realized I wanted to pay it forward and be that support system for young people who may just need someone in their corner. I feel that I am fulfilling my larger purpose by doing this work and as such I am honored and take the responsibility very seriously. It is a privilege for me to work with any client.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting is a collaborative one together with the client to define what brought you to therapy and what you want to get out of the experience. This will require both the client and myself to be honest and communicate with each other about what we want to accomplish together and discuss how we intend to have success in meeting the goals. Goals will be specific, measured and attainable. We will track your progress towards your goals regularly throughout the therapeutic process.

My first session with you

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you ve been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
