Hi there, I'm Cynthia!

My name is Cynthia Schwartz, SW14891.

My approach

Does life become overwhelming and out of control at times and that feeling of being in control seems to go out the window? I help people during difficult periods of life whether it's caused by relationships with loved ones, illness, loss and grief, lifestyle changes caused by transitioning, and being able to get to the reasons and ways to manage health issues and other issues that would affect your mental health wellbeing. Whether you are dealing with overwhelming relationships or cycles of anxiety or depression, I am here to help. Seeking therapy can be overwhelming and challenging; and I am here to help you manage through the challenges and to hopefully enlighten the path with guidance, compassion, and a safe place to heal and grow. Let's work together and get to the root of your troubles and concerns. My practice is based on strength-based intervention and how to learn about clients' unique strengths and the natural capabilities each client has. I achieve this by asking direct questions and observing body language, and emotions. tone and behavior and how to reach into the skills that each person has and be able to utilize their strength and feel energized to reach higher levels of self-esteem, and well-being and to accomplish other desirable outcomes.

My focus

I help people during difficult periods of life whether it's caused by relationships with loved ones, illness, loss and grief, lifestyle changes caused by transitioning and being able to get to the reasons and ways to manage health issues and other issues that would affect your mental health wellbeing. I utilize a cognitive behavioral approach along with eclectic techniques that would apply to each person in a unique way. Together we can identify what's not working and be able to get to an appropriate balance in your life. I utilize a mindfulness-based approach using deep breathing relaxation exercises to help you develop a strong relationship with yourself and others that affect your personal and professional life.

My communication style

The tone and environment I create for my clients is a very relaxed and forthcoming that I try to work with and incorporate in my practice and the main thing I have taken with me after starting my practice in 2014 is to always be where the client and respect and offer a non-judgemental therapeutic bond that makes it easier for client and therapist to openly and honestly communicate with each other and to get to "the heart of the manner" so that client can achieve the purpose of why they chose to receive therapeutic assistance in their lives whatever it may be. The feedback I receive from my pts is how comfortable they feel working with me and how they can share things that they haven't shared before with other therapists or people in their lives.

My journey to mental healthcare

I started this journey as a social worker as a middle-aged adult female due to having a son diagnosed with schizophrenia and a mother diagnosed with Alzheimer's simultaneously and decided to change my career from working in a library to being a different type of helping profession which I am very grateful and thankful for at this time of my life to be able to understand what personal struggles are professionally and personally and helping people reach desired goals in their lives.

My goals for you

I utilize a cognitive behavioral approach along with eclectic techniques that would apply to each person in a unique way. Together we can identify what's not working and be able to get to an appropriate balance in your life. I utilize a mindfulness-based approach using deep breathing relaxation exercises to help you develop a strong relationship with yourself and others that affect your personal and professional life.

My first session with you

When I first meet a client for the first session; I try to prepare myself to come into the session with an open and non-judgemental approach and to hopefully ensure the client that we are in a very safe place and to get to know each other respectfully. I do like to share my personal experiences in a way that will assist the client therapeutically and be able to build a trusting and caring bond together and be able to build upon each session with a cumulative approach.
