Hi, my name is Brooke Kremm. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is skilled in counseling and therapy, providing powerful crisis intervention, and advocating for clients to ensure they receive the care they need.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and allow us to work together to chart a path forward.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who may be dealing with challenges in life as a whole and adults who are impacted by a traumatic event/events. This often may look like anxiety, stress, depression, and fear. I help clients navigate these emotions and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and to develop a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist after watching a friend come back from Iraq who was suffering from the impacts of war. At that moment, I knew I wanted to help people who have been through trauma and who were having trouble adjusting. Throughout my journey, I have worked with clients suffering from addiction, clients who have been suffering from severe mental illness, and clients who have been struggling with the impacts of trauma. I have worked in the community, in a school setting, and in private practice. I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. We will work on goals together that you create to help you achieve what you have set out to accomplish in therapy.
My first session with you
What can you expect from our first session together is for us to spend most of our time discussing what led you to contact a therapist and biological, psychological, and social factors that may be contributing to the way you are feeling. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
