As a licensed clinical social worker with 25 years of experience, I became a therapist to make a positive difference. Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings including community mental health, schools, faith-based nonprofits, mental hospitals, insurance companies, and group and private practice.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is solution-focused and strengths-based. I provide exercises and resources for patients to use between sessions, and incorporate holistic and mindfulness-based tools. I have specialized training in treating anxiety, depression, impulse control, OCD, grief, and trauma.
My focus
I especially enjoy working with adolescents and adults individually, as well as providing couples therapy. I celebrate diversity in my practice.
My communication style
In communicating with patients, I aim to be clear, direct and supportive. I believe in equipping people with tools and resources to better cope with life's changing circumstances and challenges.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was motivated to pursue a career in mental healthcare after obtaining my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Kentucky. The longer I do this work, the more I find that we all struggle to believe in our inherent worth. I want to help people manage life stressors and traumas to live more fulfilling lives.
My goals for you
My goal is to help you develop effective coping skills, gain self-awareness, and make positive changes to enhance your overall well-being and relationships. I want to empower you with solutions and strategies grounded in your unique strengths.
My first session with you
In our first session, I will focus on understanding your current challenges, background, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. We will begin to develop a comfortable working relationship and discuss how I can best support you. I will listen with empathy and without judgment.
