Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Taly!

My name is Taly Kadoch. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) on the state of Florida. I use a trauma informed care approach and EMDR approach in my practice to collaborate on individual care that addresses your specific and unique needs.

My approach

Throughout my years of practice, I have found that no one size fits all. I draw heavily from CBT, existential, psychoanalytic and trauma informed practices particularly when dealing with chronic or persisting issues that often correspond to, or are an underlying byproduct of trauma. For more transitional or concentrated issues, other brief interventions are often highly effective and efficient as well. Therapy is the art of finding which approach to use at what time with which client.

My focus

Trauma, Trauma, Trauma! I used to believe that trauma meant having some significant or monumental adverse experience or event ("the trauma"). As I evolved in my practice, I began understanding that trauma is simply the response pattern we develop. to a given experience, or set of circumstances and more often than not, we are unaware of what that looks like. We just know we feel something. That's why you've probably either experienced personally, or heard "I can't exactly remember that, or I think I have worked through that but..."This perspective helps contextualize the idea that there isn't a single individual out there (yes YOU) that doesn't hold some form of trauma somewhere. Healing these wounds and creating a paradigm shift is the most powerful tool for transformation and it is my belief that without this foundation, most people will continue to recreate loops essentially leading them back to the same problem.

My communication style

I view therapy as a mutual relationship as opposed to an expert-client dynamic. I believe it's important to create the safe space and informative environment in which one can feel heard and guided, but I also anticipate participation and collaboration in the therapeutic process. After all, no-one knows you better than you. I cane both loving and direct and not afraid to challenge a client provided there is will.

My journey to mental healthcare

If I'm being honest, I initially had my heart set on Literature! I completed my first degree in English Lit and realized career options were limited to say the least. Yet, there was nothing comparable to the joy and passion I had for books, but specifically, experiencing the world through a different character, author, or lens. I knew I wanted to incorporate this aspect into whatever I do and that's when it hit me that therapy was the only other calling for me. I am a seeker. A glutton to discover the depths of the human mind and all the different pathways available to us. Being able to practice that alongside real, vulnerable, willing and beautiful minds that are brave enough to honor me with their journey has been the most fulfilling and sacred journey for me and I hope it never ends. There are infinite ways to view something, experience something, or even recall something even when we think we have already done it! I am committed to helping anyone willing to reroute find a path of more joy and less suffering.

My goals for you

For pragmatic purposes, I look at goal setting in three stages, although that doesn't mean in practice, there isn't room for flexibility as things come up or unfold. My model tends to identify all your traumas and experiences you want to address that are pertinent to the matters at hand ("The How"). In this stage we look at how we got here, review examples, experiences and personal things in your life that brought you to this intersection. The next step is looking at the impact these experiences created for you. ("The What"). Here we start connecting the dots to understand the impact of and the relationship between traumas and experiences, and the core beliefs they created or working blueprint they molded for us to navigate a situation. Once we understand "what" your mode of operandi is, or working premise, then we start constructing goals around (Where) you want to see changes. What would be different, or where would you notice a difference if we were able to change the grip these matters hold over you. Although this is a brief and summarized caption, the three main phases we deconstruct in order to set you goals are "How, what and where".

My first session with you

The initial Session, Also commonly known as an intake, we will typically review both the current presenting concerns leading you to seek treatment at this time as well as relevant background information that will help add any missing pieces to the picture of how we can best work together and tackle your goals. We will discuss desired outcomes and expectations. We may not cover everything you wish, but I often remind people that the first session can be thought of as an information gathering session essential to setting the stage for our future work together. Clients can expect to cover a broader range than usual (in an average session) and time wise, we may take a little longer so I recommend ensuring ample time and a comfortable space where you can feel free to speak at ease.
