Hi, I am Destiny Huff, MS, LPC, CPCS is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. My approach to therapy is that this is your journey, your process, and your safe space. Choosing to come to therapy is not easy but its important that you recognize the strength in asking for help and gaining the tools that you need to grow. I'm here to help you do that!
My approach
Destiny uses a person centered and cognitive behavioral approach with a multicultural and trauma lens to assist clients who may need extra help navigating life's stressors and transitions or assistance implementing new coping skills.
My focus
Destiny's client's typically are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, transitions, and/or trauma and are looking for a safe space to talk and process those thoughts and feelings, as well as, support finding ways to change, grow, communicate their wants and needs and set boundaries.
My communication style
I have a straight forward approach but in order to do that I listen and ask questions to make sure I am understanding what the client is saying and what they are wanting to work on.
My journey to mental healthcare
My senior year of high school I took a psychology class and from then on I knew I wanted to be a therapist. Seeing people accomplish their goals and grow in ways they never thought possible is why I do what I do. Helping people recognize that they are great the way they are sometimes we just need an outlet and support to help us recognize that for ourselves.
My goals for you
I work with the client to create goals that are specific to what they are trying to address in order to accomplish what they can to therapy to accomplish. Whether that is setting boundaries or speaking up for their needs.
My first session with you
During the first session we discuss prior therapies and interventions, previous diagnosis received and any current medicine. As well as back story to what led them to seek out therapy and what they would like to accomplish during therapy.
