My name is Mary BeardCurry. I am a licensed professional counselor, and I have been seeing clients for 25 years. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy, often helping clients rewrite how they have experienced life, resulting in present-day transformation and happiness.
My approach
I use an eclectic approach to therapy, as there is no "one size fits all." I love combining cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, and solution-based. Over the last 15 years, I have been incorporating a "Rewriting" approach with GREAT success. I have helped clients rewrite how they experienced their past, resulting in quick relief from anxiety, depression, trauma, and hurt.
My focus
I typically work with clients that feel stuck, are experiencing anxiety, anger, and relationship trauma, and have difficulty forgiving others or themselves. I help you rebuild your identity after troubling life situations. I also love working with clients that are striving to be successful in business or entrepreneurship.
My communication style
I create a warm environment conducive to listening and being understood. I also push my clients into their true identity as they are ready, as this produces change. My clients convey that I provide an environment where it is easy to connect/build a rapport and where they feel highly understood, appropriately challenged, and supported.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have wanted to help people through effective conversation since I was ten years old. By age 13, I was the family therapist, helping those around me to figure life out, including married couples. I love helping clients get unstuck, unlock their dreams, and begin to live life. Every session is unique and delivers its own set of "Aha" moments that usually trigger an untapped area.
My goals for you
While I usually have a good idea of clients' needs in the first 1-2 sessions, I usually create the framework for goal setting within the first 3-4 sessions. I intently listen while asking questions that give me insight into a client's world, including the parts that they are unaware of.
My first session with you
Expect to be understood, heard, and guided, and add tools in your tool belt that help you to see life through slightly lighter lenses. Hope is provided in the first session, as all situations have solutions.
