Hi there, I'm Ena!

My name is Ena (pronounced ee-nah) Melton-Myers. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. For me, therapy is about growth for you in whatever way is going to have the most positive impact on you at this time. In some phases of our life, growth is in small steps that help break down the things that seem overwhelming. In other phases of our life, we are ready for growth that feels like leaps and bounds. Our time together should focus on what you need at this moment to be better tomorrow.

My approach

I work primarily from a humanistic perspective, which means‚ I believe you have the potential to live a life that is full and enjoyable in whatever way that is defined by you. I respect that; while I have expertise in psychology, you are the expert on you. I also employ cognitive behavioral therapy and other modalities as they seem to best fit the growth you are seeking.

My focus

I've been very fortunate to work with a wide array of clients and am comfortable treating most conditions. I find myself often drawn to work with people who are, recovering from trauma (especially complex or recurrent trauma), managing overwhelm, anxiety, or depression, struggling with a sense of self or redefining their identity, having relationship difficulty or difficulty understanding why they behave as they do in certain situations, and frustrated with feeling as though they don't fit.

My communication style

I believe in collaboration to achieve the growth you are seeking. The goals we are working toward are yours, and we each deserve respect in our roles in helping you achieve those goals. I promise to be both compassionate and also direct, and challenging when appropriate. My expectations for you are to do the work, and to be open and honest, both with me and with yourself. Therapy is the most intimate work you will ever do. It is not easy, and it is not comfortable, but it is completely worth it. In therapy, you will feel challenged but also supported and safe.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always been interested in meeting potential, whether it has been my own or helping someone else meet theirs. I started this particular part of my journey in leadership and realized that my favorite parts of leadership were in helping others manage challenges and grow. I know the feeling of being lost and overwhelmed, of losing hope. Others have helped me navigate through those challenges and to find my way to the other side. I can't imagine any work that could possibly be more rewarding than doing the same.

My goals for you

We will set goals together. But first, we will work to make sure we understand what is happening for you, what you want to change, and what direction you would like that change to take you. As we progress, we will check in and make sure our goals still fit and adjust as needed.

My first session with you

A first therapy visit has some requirements set by regulation and our industry; however, I will do my best to make sure I can complete that work in the least intrusive way possible. Our first session should be about learning about each other. I will primarily try to understand what is happening for you that brings you to therapy, what you are hoping to change or manage, and what kinds of experiences have you had that may contribute to who you are in your life at this point. I hope to present to you who I am as a therapist in an authentic way that will allow you to determine if I am someone you can see yourself trusting to help guide you through this part of your growth journey.
