Hi there, I'm Ellen!

My name is Ellen Farrell, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Athens, GA. I work statewide with clients via telehealth, and I love working with motivated adults who are interested in reducing stress and creating more balance. Working holistically, I use EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients reduce trauma triggers, raise awareness, and implement healthier goals to feel better.

My approach

I like to hear each client's story and concerns, prioritizing the focus on where you feel you need and want support. That said, I see things holistically, so I will look for influences from your sleep, diet, and lifestyle to relationships, boundary issues, and root cause history for what shaped your perspective.

My focus

I love to work with adults, mainly dealing with stress, anxiety/depression related to unresolved trauma, improving communication, self-love/boundary issues, developing mindfulness, and accessing your most profound dreams and goals for a happy, fulfilled life.

My communication style

I am a detective in my approach to listening and providing feedback... with no judgment, and only compassion, and honesty. I am here for you to feel safe saying your truth, and it is a big goal for me to help you to connect with your inner wisdom, as I support you to move organically and gently through your process.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist began with my curiosity about the effects of trauma and understanding the psyche... and in my BFA program, I was learning about Improv Acting at Rutgers University. This was followed by doing a lot of improv acting, which goes along with my understanding that life is one big adventure and that we are meant to learn about love and heal the past so we can achieve and connect with meaning and evolve into our greatest potential. I have devoted my life to understanding how we are wired to be healthy and how trauma disrupts this ... and I love helping others awaken to their inner goodness and divine connection.

My goals for you

My approach is all about working together to help you define what you want to accomplish in your time together. I will identify if there are other factors that may be relevant as well. Building trust is key, and I love questions, so as you get comfortable with what it means to do the work, we will track your progress, identify new concerns, and as we go along.

My first session with you

In the first session, we will spend most of our time talking about how you've been feeling and what led up to it, and I'll be asking questions to begin to understand your experience. We are building an initial connection, and this is helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to hear your perspective to understand what will work best for you and to begin the conversation about goal setting.
