Hi there, I'm April!

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in SC, GA, and NJ, and a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor Candidate in SC, I bring over fourteen years of experience in the mental health field. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Charleston Southern University and a Master's degree in Human Services, specializing in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.

My approach

My treatment approach draws from Client-Centered Therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques. I take a hands-on approach, creating personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique needs and overall journey.

My focus

I specialize in working with individuals dealing with trauma and dual diagnoses, serving clients ranging from children to geriatrics. Additionally, I am committed to supporting the L.B.G.T.Q community, striving to be a reliable resource for those who are often underserved.

My communication style

In our sessions, you can expect me to be a compassionate listener and an active partner in your journey. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and supported. My communication style is warm, direct, and collaborative, always keeping your unique needs and goals at the forefront of our work together.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey in mental healthcare has been a beautiful one, spanning over fourteen years. Driven by a passion for helping others, I have dedicated my career to providing compassionate and effective care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

My goals for you

My goal is to empower you with the tools and insights needed to overcome challenges, heal from past traumas, and build a fulfilling life. Through our work together, I aim to help you develop effective coping skills, gain self-awareness, and cultivate resilience in the face of adversity.

My first session with you

In our first session, we will focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust, empathy, and understanding. I will take the time to listen to your story, discuss your goals, and collaborate with you to create a treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and preferences. This initial meeting will lay the foundation for our work together, setting the stage for your journey towards personal growth and well-being.
