Hi there, I'm Giovanni!

Welcome! My name is Giovanni, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families. I offer sessions via telehealth or in the office. My areas of interest and experience are childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, men's issues, and couples' work. Contact us for more information, or set up a consultation now!

My approach

My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, utilizing CBT, psychodynamic, eco-therapy, SFBT, and mindfulness interventions, depending on the client's needs.

My focus

I have had the honor of working with survivors, both men and women, of sexual assault, self-harm, and childhood trauma. I enjoy working with folks individually as well as working with a family unit. Conditions of interest and experience include anxiety, depression, grief, codependency, and self-harm.

My communication style

Developing an honest rapport with clients is key. My approach is gentle yet direct. My tone and environment are both soft and easygoing. My personality and therapeutic techniques allow me to connect to the person across from me with ease. My overall goal is to provide a safe space to laugh, cry, and discover.

My journey to mental healthcare

While I have always gravitated towards "helping" professions, my journey to become a therapist was after working in another field. I had volunteered and worked on an emergency ambulance as an EMT, as well as a career in the beauty industry. Throughout my life, I have been attracted to service work, I think in large part, due to my mother's introduction to volunteering and her work with elders. Eventually, throughout life's up and downs, I had the opportunity to work with a social worker and as an advocate for juvenile offenders and decided I wanted to get my degree and become an advocate and correctional counselor. Once I completed my Master's degree, I worked as a counselor and community organizer for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. This work eventually led me to work in hospitals with patients on the oncology floor, hospice, and those afflicted with severe mental illnesses. While I enjoyed my time organizing and working with patients and survivors, I wanted to be able to have more time and freedom to work with folks throughout their journey toward wellness rather than being there for a snapshot. Now that I am able to provide therapy with folks weekly, I am able to work with my clients and see them through it. I feel honored and privileged to be part of my client's journeys.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting is client-centered and gradual. After initial intake questions are completed, clients can expect to be asked about specific goals and discuss tailored objectives to getting there. Goals are usually revisited every 45 days or less according to appropriateness.

My first session with you

During an initial intake, clients will be asked about their journey that led them to therapy and discuss desired goals and outcomes. I will discuss my approach, techniques, and experience and provide professional transparency and time for follow-up questions. Discussion regarding schedule, consent, HIPPA, and confidentiality will be part of the conversation as well as any other agreements between the client and myself.
