Hello! I am Cindy Carman, Ph.D., LCSW, and I am excited to be a provider with PATH. I am an outgoing person that loves to meet new people, and I would like to share with you how the therapeutic process can enhance your life!
My approach
As a Clinical Social Worker, I have a very person-centered approach to therapy. I want to know about YOU. What are your strengths, motivations, and goals? If you have any barriers, such as previous experiences, anxiety, and depression, that are holding you back let's break those barriers down so that you can live your best life! I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy approaches to assist clients in making progress with their therapeutic goals.
My focus
I have extensive experience with children and teens with emotional and behavioral disorders. To help them succeed in school and life has been a primary focus of my career. I also enjoy working with adults of all ages because anxiety, depression, and mood disorders can affect us at any stage of life.
My communication style
I strive to make every session open and comfortable. Therapy is about positive communication. I want to know what is going well in your world, too, because those are the strengths we will use to find success.
My journey to mental healthcare
I chose social work because it focuses on the "person in their environment," which is a holistic approach. Developing strengths in the person and accessing the resources in the environment are the two primary keys to meeting treatment goals. I truly enjoy being part of the process as clients unlock their potential and find success in life.
My goals for you
Every person is unique and has specific ideas about what being successful in life means to them. It may be increasing communication skills, increasing comfort in social environments, or learning how to increase personal responsibility. I work closely with clients to develop individualized goals and develop a treatment plan based on identified needs.
My first session with you
The first therapy session is centered around getting to know each other, and it is a relaxed session of talking and sharing. Background information, demographics, and a general overview of any symptoms are explored so that an effective treatment plan can be developed together.
