Hello. I am Sharon Rinks, a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Georgia. For over thirty years, I have been providing therapy to people from infancy throughout their lifespan. Currently, I provide online integrative therapy to adolescents through adults who want to bring about positive change in their lives and realize their full potential.
My approach
In order to treat each client as the unique individual they are, I utilize an integrative approach that includes a range of techniques from a number of theoretical approaches based on what each client seems to need in the therapy session.
My focus
I have a history of effectively providing telehealth treatment to adolescents through adults who are coping with a variety of conditions, including anxiety, ADHD, depression, behavioral concerns, grief, trauma, and life changes.
My communication style
I strive to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, providing unconditional positive regard so that each client feels safe and heard.
My journey to mental healthcare
For as far back as I can remember, I have been drawn to helping others, even though I didn't ask for help myself. My original "clients" included my younger siblings, friends, schoolmates, and people I volunteered to help. Helping others has always given my life value. Over time, I realized that it is my purpose and my passion.
My goals for you
My focus is on the person, not the problem. I aim to encourage a self-directed approach to mental health, empowering each client to reflect on and overcome their individual challenges. Goal setting is addressed in the first session if the client is ready. It is very possible that a client's goals will change to some extent over time, which is the reason that goals are reviewed and changed when warranted.
My first session with you
In our first session, my client should expect to talk about their background and what brings them to therapy. I will talk about the treatment process and answer any questions they may have. As in any session, I will be present at the moment with them, providing unconditional positive regard. By the end of our session, I hope my client will have decided that they feel comfortable enough to meet with me again.
