Hi there, I'm Shelley!

Hi! My name is Shelley Elliott, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia, providing Individual Therapy to women and young adults who are seeking to improve or grow in their emotional development at any age or stage of life. I have over 15 years of experience in community and medical settings, focusing on helping individuals learn to process their thoughts and feelings in a healthy, productive manner.

My approach

I believe strongly in working in partnership with clients to utilize their strengths to navigate the complex challenges that life can bring while working intentionally towards the achievement of therapeutic goals. I take a holistic approach to therapy, integrating a variety of techniques drawn from therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, behavior modification, mindfulness, and relaxation.

My focus

I work primarily with women and young adults who are facing a variety of challenges in life, including anxious thoughts, complex dynamics within relationships, stress management, grief and loss, and the natural transitions that occur as we move from one stage of life to the next. Helping individuals identify what concerns them most while also exploring the deeper levels of the presenting problem can be a great first step toward resolution, healing, and personal growth.

My communication style

My desire is to provide clients with a calm, safe space to freely share their thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences in a manner that feels comfortable for them.

My journey to mental healthcare

Ask any therapist or counselor, and they will likely say that a desire to help people led them into this field. My journey to becoming a therapist began with a deep personal loss at a young age, which left me searching for someone to help me navigate the complex emotions associated with that experience. I learned firsthand how invaluable therapeutic care and support can truly be, and my heart felt called to this profession. I believe that in the midst of pain, grief, stress, and worry are moments when we have the ability to search our hearts on a deeper level and learn more about ourselves than we ever dreamed possible. I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside clients as they seek to grow and heal, one step at a time.

My goals for you

Setting focused, realistic goals is a vital step of the therapeutic process. When working with clients, I lean into their desired goals, while also gently challenging them to think outside of the box and open themselves up to new goals which may deepen their journey of emotional and personal growth.

My first session with you

Our first session together will provide you with a welcoming space to share your thoughts and feelings at your own personal comfort level. Therapy can be an exciting adventure for some, while others find therapy scary or intimidating. My desire is to provide a safe place for you to open your heart and mind as we work together to navigate whatever challenges or difficult circumstances you may be facing.
