Hi there, I'm Taijah!

Hi, my name is Dr. Taijah Davis, EdD and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Atlanta, Georgia, and working statewide via telehealth. I work with adults 19-45 and specialize in anxiety, depression, issues with self-esteem, and relationship problems using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Additionally, I specialize in couples/marriage counseling using The Gottman Approach to address conflict management and issues with communication.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as I find this modality to be extremely effective in addressing the therapeutic needs of clients experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, and numerous other mental health disorders. I also find solution-focused therapy to be extremely beneficial in developing and obtaining specific client goals. Lastly, I utilize The Gottman Method when working with couples in premarital and marriage counseling.

My focus

I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social/societal pressures. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. Additionally, I work with couples who are experiencing difficulties with communication and healthy conflict resolution.

My communication style

Through my practice, I hope to create an environment where my clients can be their authentic selves without fear of judgment or criticism. I try to find a balance between that person in your life who is your top-tier cheerleader, but also one who won't hesitate to hold you accountable while reaching your goals. Sometimes there will be laughter and sometimes there may be tears, but it is all a part of the process as you strive to become the best version of yourself.

My journey to mental healthcare

I've always had an interest in psychology, mental health, and the social sciences. That being said, my real passion lies in seeing others be successful through reaching their full potential with confidence and assuredness. Life is a journey and I feel true fulfillment when I see others grow and excel in ways they may not have believed possible before starting the therapeutic process.

My goals for you

During our initial session, I like to discuss with clients the reasons they decided to begin their therapeutic journey. As we continue to build rapport, we will establish the primary goals and ideal outcomes to utilize as a guideline for how to move forward through our time in therapy.

My first session with you

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time getting to know a little bit about your history, how you have been feeling recently, and your presenting mental health concerns. I'll spend time asking questions to make sure I have a solid understanding of your feelings and what you would like to get out of the therapeutic process. This session is important in developing an initial connection so I can help identify how to best support you throughout this journey.
